iPad Air 2 vs Nexus 9 vs Galaxy Tab S 2 comparison: Which tablet is the best?

iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3

Latest reports claim that Samsung is updating its tablet line.

According to SamMobile, the company is working on the second generation of the Galaxy Tab S tablets. Leaked model numbers SM-T710 and SM-T810 hint on slight updates from the previous Samsung Galaxy Tab S slates which have code numbers SM-T700 and SM-T800. A minor update in features is allegedly because the specifications of the current Galaxy Tab S tablets are already top-notch in comparison to its rivals in the mid-range market.

Below are the rumored features of the Galaxy Tab S 2 compared to its probable rivals, Apple's iPad Air 2 and Google's Nexus 9:

Design

While the latest iPad Air 2 sports the same form factor as the previous iPads, it boasts the thinnest tablet profile in the market. The Nexus 9, on the other hand, features the identifiable HTC design of aluminum casing. The Galaxy Tab S 2 will most likely resemble the previous Galaxy Tab S slates.

Screen Display

While the iPad Air 2 sports a 9.7-inch screen and the Nexus 9 tablet has an 8.9-inch panel, the two render a 4:3 aspect ratio. There is a high chance that, for its future offering, Samsung will retain the current models' screen sizes of 10.5 and 8.4 inches with quad HD screen resolutions.

Processor

The Google-HTC Nexus 9 is powered by a dual-core Nvidia Tegra K1 with 64-bit architecture paired with 2 GB of RAM, while the iPad Air 2 is equipped with a dual-core 64-bit A8X processor with built-in M8 motion co-processor for video graphics partnered with 1 GB of RAM. The Galaxy Tab S 2 is expected to slightly boost its predecessor's chipset, moving up either to Exynos 6 or 7 from Samsung.

Operating system

Apple's full-fledged tablet runs with iOS 8 that comes with Apple Pay and iHealth. The Nexus 9 runs with the biggest Android update — Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. The Galaxy Tab S 2 is expected to have the same as the latter.

Cameras

The two existing tablets sport an 8-megapixel back camera, which the purported device will most likely have, too. On the other hand, the Nexus 9 comes with a 1.6-megapixel selfie shooter, the iPad Air 2 has a 1.5-megapixel front-facing cam, and the Galaxy Tab S 2 might sport a 2.1-megapixel secondary camera.

Battery

The Nexus 9 is powered by a 6700 mAh battery and the Galaxy Tab S 2 is rumored to house a 7900 mAh battery, which are nothing compared to iPad's 8827 mAh battery capacity.
