iPad Mini 3, iPad Air 2 release date: could be given a 'golden' makeover

After the successful release of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus last month, Apple Inc. is reportedly keeping their hands busy once again for the release of the new products under the iPad line.

Earlier reports suggested that the next-generation iPad tablets like the iPad Air 2 and the iPad mini 3 will be out in the market sometime in October 2014.

According to a source, Apple CEO is plotting to revive the dwindling sales of the iPad line with the release of the new tablets. The market had shifted its attention to the latest smartphones with bigger display over the past months, worsening the already problematic sales figures of the mobile tablet devices.

One of the strategies that Apple will apply for the release of the new iPads is to offer it in Gold color, just like what they did with the iPhone 5s late last year.

MacRumors stated an insider report, saying, "New versions of the company's 9.7-inch iPads, anticipated to be unveiled this month, will include gold as a choice of color for the rear metal cover, adding to the silver and gray available for the lighter iPad Air, the people said, asking not to be identified ahead of an announcement. That brings the color palette into line with the iPhone 5s, which come with silver or gold backs for models with a white faceplate, and space gray for those with a black front."

If rumors are true, the consumers can now have more color options to choose from. The earlier iPads only came in the signature Space Gray and Silver versions.

Although there is still no official word about the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 release date as of the moment, gadget analysts and Apple watchers are hoping that the new versions of the touchscreen tablet series from the Cupertino company will be put on the shelves in time for the holiday shopping period.
