Christ has given us so much freedom through His finished work on the cross. Although this freedom is already ours, we must continue fighting for it, because our enemy will do his best to steal it from us and enslave us once more to the things that Christ has set us free from.

Not convinced? Here are some reasons why you should fight for your freedom in Christ.

1) Christ paid a very high price for your freedom

1 Corinthians 7:23 says, "God paid a high price for you, so don't be enslaved by the world."

Jesus paid for your freedom with His very blood. He didn't just pay with a little amount of blood like the amount people donate in bloodletting drives, He gave His very life for it! Think about it.

The Creator of the whole universe came in the form of a man to pay for the price of man's sin. This very man lived a sinless life, did nothing wrong, and was undeserving of death, much less a death that came by way of corporal punishment. But He did die so that the punishment for our sin would be made once and for all, so that all who trust in His finished work will be freed from captivity to sin and be reconciled to God.

If we cannot grasp how much Jesus Christ paid for our worthless sakes, we will never understand how valuable this freedom in Him is.

2) Christ freed you to live as God's child

Galatians 4:4-7 tells us, "But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, "Abba, Father." Now you are no longer a slave but God's own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir."

Christ paid the price so that we could be adopted by God and become His children! This is such a privilege that we much treasure. We are God's children, and we must not let anything derail us from growing our relationship with our Father God.

3) Christ freed us to live for Him

2 Corinthians 5:15 says, "He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them."

Christ died to give us the purpose for which we will live our lives: to live for Him. Our lives are meaningless if we live them for ourselves.

Augustine once said, "Thou hast made us for thyself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it finds its rest in thee." No matter what we do with our lives, no matter how "good" or "generous" or "kind" we present ourselves to be, if all of it is not from, not by and not for Christ, it's all for nothing.
