A family and a community are in mourning after five people were killed in a car accident in DeSoto Country, Florida, on Sunday night.

Three of them—Lamour, 29; India, 24; and Tehira Welch, 18—were the daughters of Prayer Tower Church Pastor Ricardo Welch, according to ABC Action News.

The accident happened when Jennifer Zuniga was driving her Ford F150 truck with her son on SR 70 when it hydroplaned and ended over the centre line.

The truck crashed into the Volkswagen Passat driven by Lamour who had her two sisters and friend Antwayne Robinson of North Carolina as passengers.

Zuniga and Robinson also died in the crash. Zuniga's 6-year-old son Cort Thivierge remained in critical condition in a hospital.

The Lamour sisters and Robinson were on their way home from a church conference in Ft. Pierce when the accident occurred.

Welch continued to preach in his church despite the tragedy that struck his family.

"I have wept, I have groaned, I have screamed a little, but I don't blame God," he said.

"I can't even express in words how my heart hurts," Welch said.

Church members gathered to offer their support to Welch, who said it's time to celebrate his daughters' lives.

"Lamour [is] my twin. They said if she had a beard, she'd be me," he said.

Lamour has three kids and her father said she was studying nursing and very involved in church youth ministry.

Welch said India "was my entrepreneur extraordinaire. She's written a book. She has a CD album out and was in the process of signing with a label."

India was a teacher at Bay Point Middle School while Tehira worked with the deaf services centre and church dance ministry and was into fashion.

"She just launched a new clothing line that you could order online, and she was starting to make those different items," the pastor said.

Welch said all he can do now is place his trust in God.

"He says in His Word when I am weak, He is strong," Welsh said.

The Welch sisters' cousin, Clayton Harmon, said "It's an accident, you know. You can't explain it, you know. As much as we trust God, we don't have the answers, but we do know that we got to stick together."
