|PIC1|Devotion, Salvation Army Alove’s youth rally, was held Feb. 11th 2006 at the Watford Colosseum in UK.

Hundreds of young Christians filed into the venue to ”explore what it means for the ALOVE community to live a life devoted to God and be alive in him.”
Special features at the event included a special production of NGM’s ‘Luv Esther,’ and a vibrant gig led by worship group Electralyte.

Before the concert opened, Janet Miles, Information and Resources Officer for ALOVE UK, spoke to the crowd: “Devotion is something that comes from the heart. That’s what we really want to think about today.”

Following her statement, the Devotion crowd jumped, shouted, and sang aloud during the worship concert with Electralyte, as they were the first audience to heart the band sing tracks from their new album, BREAKOUT, which will hit stores in April, 1.

Electralyte front man Matt Leeder told Christian Today, “It is amazing to see The Salvation Army worshipping like that, and it’s an amazing privilege to lead these guys in worship.”

Bass player Paul Leverett aka Dr Levski added, “We want to see more people get to know God and push deeper with Him. We hope and pray they take this into their daily lives, and that it's not just a one-hit-wonder for them.”

In between breaks, attendees visited the ALOVE Life Market Place and explored the multiple training opportunities ALOVE provided for worship, mission, discipleship and social action.

|PIC2|A new training course called ‘Essential’ launched at the event, replacing the original Timothy programme that played an important role in training young people within The Salvation Army in the past 15 years.

’Essential’ aims to provide 18-24 year olds with a ‘next-step’ in life, whether it is starting a job, considering Salvation Army officership, or just looking for a change of direction. Representatives handed out Essential guide booklets that contained information about the new course.

“The course is focused on equipping young people to pursue the four ALOVE essentials of worship, discipleship, mission and social action,” says Carrie Cummings, ALOVE’s Personal Development & Training Coordinator.

In addition to the music, worship, theatre, and dance, a prayer tent opened at the event, allowing the opportunity for attendees to pray or have others pray for them.

Towards the end of the event, Russell Rook, Director of ALOVE, encouraged the crowd to remember two things when leaving Devotion: “The first thing is that God is unconditionally devoted to you. The second thing is that, nothing that you’ve done in the past, or will do in the future, will affect the fact that God is devoted to you.”
