Huawei Honor 7 vs. Huawei G8 specs: How does it differ?

Chinese company Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. launched its Honor 7 smartphone in the China market in early July, followed by the recent unveiling of its latest Huawei G8 handset device.

It was recently reported that the Huawei G8 had just passed through Chinese certification authority TENAA's website last month along with details on its specifications. This new handset is the successor to last year's Huawei Ascend G7 smartphone, which was unveiled during the IFA 2014.

In terms of the features, Huawei G8 and Huawei Honor 7 both feature fingerprint scanning technology. Huawei G8 comes with a 5.5-inch display screen with a 1080 x 1920 resolution (401 ppi), while the Huawei Honor 7 has a smaller 5.2-inch display screen with a 1080 x 1920 (424 ppi) pixel resolution.

GSM Arena reports that the G8 will be available in two versions and three different colors —  black, white, and gold. The first version packs a 2GB RAM and 16GB built-in memory for the price of US$370; while the second model has 3GB RAM and a larger 32GB memory offered for US$434, according to Phone Arena. On the other hand, Honor 7 comes with 3GB RAM and up to 64GB built-in memory storage that can be expanded up to 128GB via two slots.

The G8  runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 615 MSM8939 processor and is powered by 3,000 mAh battery. Meanwhile, Honor 7 comes with Huawei's HiSilicon Kirin 935 processor and a larger 3,100 mAh battery.

The G8 boasts of a sharp 13-megapixel camera on the back and a 5-megapixel camera on the front. In comparison, the Honor 7 features a sharper 20-megapixel rear-facing camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera.

As of this time, there's still no word in regards to the G8's availability outside of China. On the other hand, Android Headlines reports that Huawei is planning to unveil its Honor 7 smartphone in the United Kingdom on Aug. 27.

In related news, it has been reported that search engine giant Google plans to launch a new Nexus handset developed in collaboration with Huawei. It was recently revealed that this phone might come with a large 5.7-inch QHD display screen along with Google's latest Android M mobile operating system (OS) pre-installed.
