Huawei Ascend Mate 8, P8 release March 1; company sends out press invitations

Huawei Ascend Mate 7 successor coming soon?Huawei

As the Mobile World Congress is just around the corner, a lot of companies are prepping up and putting the final touches on their devices . Huawei, for one, may finally take the wraps off the Ascend Mate 8 and P8 smartphones on March 1 as the company will hold a press event on the said date.

The Chinese OEM manufacturer sent out the invitations for the press event that will feature the company's handsets front and center. According to the invites, Huawei and the event will feature a number of "surprises that will empower you to set your dreams free."

Speculations have arisen that Huawei will launch the successors of its two most popular lines. The handsets were allegedly spotted in the wild a while back.

Huawei had a stellar performance last year as the company managed to increase its market share and profits amidst the intense competition in the smartphone market. The company really stepped up its game by releasing a couple of great smartphones.

Recently, a certain Twitter user Sasha Babyuk tweeted alleged images of Huawei Ascend Mate 8. The Twitter user tagged various tech publications like GSMArena, PhoneArena, and GizChina. The source is still unknown, but the photos have Chinese characters, which hints that the leaked images were from China or its home court and supply chain.

Based on the photos, the alleged Ascend Mate 8 will sport the same, old aluminum body and screen-to-body feature, both of which are the selling points of the previous handset. The huge display is definitely a throw away sign of it being a tablet-smartphone hybrid. However, the resolution of the screen is still unspecified. Thus, it is still too early to say whether it has a stunning screen display.

Huawei has not spilled the official details of its forthcoming devices yet. Surely, more details will be revealed as the Huawei press event nears.
