HTC recently introduced via Twitter the 24-karat gold limited edition of the One M9 in celebration of the end of the season for the Union of European Football Association's Champions League.

It was also via Twitter that the South Korea-based company invited fans to join a contest that would score them a handsome gold-dipped version of its flagship and a ticket to the final, which was scheduled on June 6. Embedded on the back of the gilded HTC One M9 that the contest winner received is the date and the seat number so as to immortalize, in a way, the winning experience.

HTC has yet to provide details on how buyers can snag the tasteful variant. The company is expected to reveal the pricing soon, as well as when and where the gold-armored device will be for the taking. What's sure is that, with the gold version of the One M9, nothing else other than the appearance has been changed. It has its same redoubtable specs and features, only encased in a more luxurious package.

The HTC One M9 comes with a 5-inch full HD display at 1080p and 441 ppi pixel density. It draws its power from a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, which is nicely paired with 3 GB RAM to make the device as snappy as it can get.

There is 32 GB of built-in storage, enough for the user to stuff their favorite apps and games as well as photos and selfies taken from its 20-megapixel rear-facing shooter and its 4-megapixel front-facing camera. The HTC One M9 also makes use of a 2840 mAh battery.

The unveiling of the 24-karat gold limited edition went viral after HTC allegedly used an iPhone to take a picture of the handset. Fans spotted a reflection of the Apple logo, which gave HTC away. The Twitter post was quickly taken down and replaced with a new one.
