LG G3 vs HTC Desire 816 comparison: Which phone is worth the price?

HTC Desire 816HTC

HTC Desire 816 was released in May of this year. A comparable smartphone to match it with is none other than the LG G3, which was introduced in July and will hit stores before the year ends. To help users choose between the two phones, it is only proper to have a matchup between HTC's phone a.k.a the "photo lover's dream" and LG's "simple yet smart" phone before they shell out some cash.

HTC Desire 816 comes with a glossy polycarbonate plastic exterior and, at the same time, is surrounded with matte-effect.  This, as Trusted Reviews remarked, gives it a nice solid look. The make of the LG G3, even though plastic, gives a premium look with its metallic effect.

The difference in their dimensions is something interesting to note as well. Between the two, HTC Desire 816 is thinner (0.31 inch) but heavier (165 grams). LG G3 weighs 134 grams in its 0.41-inch thickness.

Both phones provide users with a wide variety of color choices. HTC Desire 816 has black, white, red/orange, green, and gray versions while LG G3 keeps it classy with black, white, and gold.

HTC Desire 816 has a 5.5-inch Super LCD 2 Display. LG G3, on the other hand, is comparatively smaller with its 5-inch IPS LCD display. Both phones have the same screen resolution at HD 720 x 1,280 pixels, but pixel densities vary with HTC's 267 ppi and LG's 295 ppi.

Both phones are powered by a (Qualcomm Snapdragon 400) Cortex-A7 processor. The difference lies on their system clocks, with the HTC phone at 1.6 GHz with a 1.5 GB RAM bundle and the LG device slightly less at 1.2 GHz with 1 GB RAM. The HTC Desire 816 and LG G3 are quite different when battery makes are compared. The former has 2600 mAh, while the latter has 3000 mAh. A drained LG G3 battery can be charged wirelessly.

The cameras of the phones offer the greatest distinction between them. Both with LED flash, HTC Desire 816 leaves LG's 8-megapixel rear camera behind with its killer 13-megapixel snapper. It does the same with the front camera, with HTC Desire 816's 5-megapixel selfie-shooter several notches better than LG G3's 1.3-megapixel front cam.

And it all comes down to the price. The specifications squeezed into the HTC Desire 816 gives it a £250 price tag while the LG G3 can be purchased for £299.00.
