'How To Get Away With Murder' season 2 cast update: Amy Okuda nabs a recurring role

The cast of "How To Get Away With Murder" is growing in numbers. Recently, it was revealed that Amy Okuda landed a recurring role in the show's sophomore season.

Variety exclusively reported that the star of "The Guild" comedy web series was tapped to portray a still-undisclosed role in the second season of ABC's critically-acclaimed mystery legal drama. The actress has appeared as a guest star in several TV shows, including "The Middle," "Californication," as well as "Brooklyn Nine-Nine." She also worked with the show's executive producer Shonda Rhimes when she appeared in the 10th season of "Grey's Anatomy." 

Aside from Okuda, "How To Get Away With Murder" season 2 will also feature "Supernaturals" star Matt Cohen as a sexy, working-class guy named Levi, and "X-Men" actress Famke Janssen who will portray the role of a highly-determined defense lawyer. Kendrick Samson from "The Vampire Diaries" will also have a still-undisclosed recurring role this season. 

Meanwhile, lead star Viola Davis recently revealed several vital information about season 2 during a recent interview with Deadline. According to the award-winning actress, the upcoming season will begin with a lot of explosive revelations that would tie the loose ends left open last season. But it will also introduce a new mystery that will baffle viewers in the upcoming episodes. 

"It's just so complicated and fascinating, and that happens in the first episode," the actress said. 

Davis also shared that viewers will get more perspective about the past of each characters to understand why they turned out to be what they are. 

Davis portrays the role of Annalise Keating, the cunning high-profile criminal lawyer who also teaches at Middleton University. She got entangled in the murder committed by four of her best students when they killed her own husband back in season 1. The actress received multiple awards for this role, including those from the Screen Actors Guild Awards and People's Choice Awards, and she is currently nominated at the Primetime Emmy Awards for the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category. 

"How To Get Away With Murder" season 2 premieres on Thursday, Sept. 24, on ABC.
