Ladies and gentleman, the end of road for season 4 has come. Much to the misery and anguish of avid "Homeland" fans out there, it will be another year until a new episode of the Showtime hit political-drama show airs.

Many initially assumed that the fourth season would be dry due to the absence of Nicolas Brody (Damien Lewis), but showrunners have proven every critic wrong. Season 4 has been one of the best yet, a far cry from seasons 2 and 3. And the genius writing and directing behind the current season is what everybody is lamenting over. Simply put, 12 episodes are not enough.

The last episode was another thriller. Quinn was so close to killing Haqqani until Carrie intercepted it. Then, seeing Haqqani up close and being worshipped by his followers, Carrie drew a gun and almost shot the terrorist until Khan stopped her. That's when Khan showed Carrie who was inside the car with Haqqani — it was none other than Dar Adal — and what a way to make an appearance in season 4.

According to the synopsis for the season finale, Carrie and Saul will continue investigating what happened in Islamabad, pertaining specifically to Dar Adal's involvement with Haqqani. Many believe that Dar Adal is a traitor and his voice-over in the promo doesn't really help.

He says, "Don't look so shocked. We have to see events for what they're. It's not what I've done. It's what I've got in return. Not every choice we make is blessed with moral clarity. One adapts to the terrain. We are the no man of no man's land."

Dar Adal then asks Carrie what it is she's playing at, and Carrie says, "I call it give me what I f—ing want!"

Is Dar Adal really a traitor? If there's one thing "Homeland" is great at, it is making viewers think one way, but they're really going the other way. Dar Adal may be just pulling a black-ops under Haqqani's nose due to Carrie's failed attempt to kill the Taliban in the first place.

In the other promo clip released, Saul tells Mira, "I know what I want to do next, goddammit, I want back in. I want to make this right."

And what about Quinn? He's not answering Carrie's messages and he is seen boarding a plane with a bag full of weapons. Is he going rogue again? Could it be that he is working with Dar Adal to kill Haqqani?

Don't miss "Homeland" this Dec. 21, 9 p.m. on Showtime and see how the season will wrap up. It's going to be an epic episode for sure.
