Hillsong United hits remixed in Beatles-inspired White Album

Hillsong United has released a brand new collection of remixed fan-favourites.

The White Album [Remix Project] features reworked versions of 14 of their most popular songs from previous releases, including Oceans (Where Feet May Fail), With Everything, From The Inside Out, and Like an Avalanche.

The album is all about stretching musical creativity in new directions and as the title suggests, takes inspiration from The Beatles and their 1968 double album release that came to be known as The White Album because of its blank white sleeve.

That inspiration doesn't lie so much in the sound as in the way the English rock band continually reimagined music.

"I think few things are more inspiring and challenging as the alluring white of an empty canvas," explains United's Joel Houston.

"We collaborated with friends and artists who brought their unique creative gift to the table and were able to shine a different light on things.

"The result is The White Album - stealing its title as a respectful ode to arguably one of the greatest albums by perhaps the greatest band of all time - and no, we certainly aren't comparing our little remix project to The Beatles, but we are however inspired by the way they, like many others artists over the years have pioneered the sound of music for generations, defining culture along the way.

"This is the power of music; it's ability to change the atmosphere, break down walls, and define culture. As worshippers, this is what's its all about - seeing our present culture enfolded into the eternal culture of God's kingdom! He is after all, making all things new."

For those out there who do like a bit of vintage, the United team are releasing The White Album [Remix Project] for a limited run on vinyl on April 19.

The White Album [Remix Project] comes off the back of Zion, which became their fastest selling album to date when it was released last February.

It was also their most successful, debuting on the Billboard Top 200 at No 5. Lead track Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) has been the No 1 Hot Christian Song for 13 straight weeks and the No 1 Christian Digital Song for 16 weeks going back to November 2, 2013.

The official lyric video for the song has received more than 7 million views.
