Here's where you can get strength and hope for each day

We all need strength to live each day. We're like the patients in a hospital—when you go through hospital beds, rooms, and wards, you'll realise that all of these patients, especially those with very serious conditions, need hope and strength to live each day. Otherwise, some of them will lose their zest for life and will likely give up on themselves. Let's pray that won't happen!

In the same way, our lives as Christians are continually bombarded by the enemy. We all have challenges facing us. Our hopes are being delayed, expectations not being met, and dreams not being achieved. All of these things quietly but honestly chip away at our zest for life.

We all need a source of strength to cling to, so we may live life full of joy and hope.

Unlimited power source

Good things can never refresh or fuel us with the amount of strength we need. The only power source that we can tap into is the One who never goes without power: God Himself. He is Almighty and is mighty to save (see Zephaniah 3:17). What's even better is that God's mercy, the mercy that saved us, is available for us daily!

Lamentations 3:22–23 declares this: "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness" (ESV).

Refuel daily

In the hustle and bustle of daily living, we all need to remember that we can only do so much with our own strength. Yes, our bodies can do physical tasks; our minds can brainstorm and think of great things; and our strong wills and emotions can reach great lengths.

But only our spirit can take on spiritual matters. If we don't refuel ourselves with the love of God on a daily basis, we will soon find ourselves spiritually famished and—worse—dying.

We all need to declare the same declaration that the writer of Lamentations declared: "'The Lord is my portion,' says my soul, 'therefore I will hope in him'" (ESV, Lamentations 3:24).

Friend, find time to sit down and pray to the Lord today. Make time to ask for a recharge of your soul, so He can empower you to take on today's tasks and challenges. Make way for Him to grab a hold of you and strengthen you to face everything you face, no matter how big and difficult it may be.

Be encouraged when you trust in the Lord. Psalm 18:27–29 says of the Lord, "You rescue the humble, but you humiliate the proud. You light a lamp for me. The Lord, my God, lights up my darkness. In your strength I can crush an army; with my God I can scale any wall" (NLT).
