The entertainment industry has seen a resurgence in faith-based films over the past year, and also an increase in the number of celebrities who freely discuss their faith in interviews.

From reality stars and musicians to actors and athletes, 2014 was a big year for celebrities speaking out about Christianity.

NFL Hall of Famer Jim Kelly and his family have documented his battle with cancer over the two years, and have thanked God for the victory every step of the way. When he was deemed cancer-free in September, his public statement was an outpouring of praise to God.

"I am so thankful for the support and prayers of my family, my friends near and far, and everyone in Western New York and throughout the country through my illness," he wrote. "I also want to thank the medical specialists who have done such amazing work.

"Most of all, I want to thank God. Without my faith and God's constant presence, there would be no such thing as 'Kelly Tough.'"

Strong faith also runs through rockers Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale's household. The mother of three revealed in September that their oldest son, Kingston, begged his parents and God for another sibling.

"'Dear God, please let my mum have a baby,'" Stefani said her eldest son would pray. "'Please, God! Please let my mum have a baby!'

"And four weeks later, I was pregnant!" she revealed on "Late Night with Seth Meyers."

Stefani said that eight-year-old Kingston has a strong faith in the Lord.

"He prays for everything. [He's like], 'Please, God, please let me have another cupcake... Yes!' He really believes," she told the talk show host.

Stefani and her husband welcomed their youngest son, Apollo Bowie Flynn Rossdale, on February 28.

E! TV host and reality star Giuliana Rancic opened up about her faith in August when she discussed the fertility issues she experienced with husband, Bill.

"It was hard," she admitted to the Daily Mail. "Also, my sister has four children and I come from a big family, so it was heart-wrenching not to be able to have a child.

"My faith is strong and Bill and I go to church every Sunday, but I remember going to church and getting angry. I was asking God, 'Why aren't you giving us a child?'"

Medical testing revealed that Giuliana had breast cancer, and in December 2011 she underwent a double mastectomy. If she did not have difficulty conceiving, Giuliana said, the cancer could have remained undetected for years.

"It's incredible how life works out," she reflected. "Sometimes the hardest things in life are there to bring about the best things."

Giuliana, 40, is now cancer-free, and the couple welcomed their son, Duke, through a surrogate in 2012.
