GTA 5 PC release date coming soon: Amazon ships game early to customers before Sept. 17, 2013 launch

Grand Theft Auto V

The Grand Theft Auto V release date isn't until September 17, but an 'early release' by Amazon is being investigated by Rockster to determine why the early sales is occurring before the official launch.

An investigation has been launched by the games company after claims that the internet retail giant accidentally shipped out the highly anticipated game to some customers before the official launch.

The game is due to be released tomorrow, but fans said they have already received the games up to four days before the official launch. One fan posted a photo of the new game on Reddit, with the caption, "Got the game at around 11 PM CST.

"Played nonstop 2 hours, I just couldn't put the controller down. The 8GB install took roughly twenty minutes on my PS3, the longest twenty minutes of my life. The graphics on this game are unbelievable, and that is what I'm most blown away by thus far. Tomorrow I will really get into playing the missions and try and get pretty far. Sorry for rubbing it in guys! I was absolutely giddy with excitement when I had it in my hands!"

The game has reportedly leaked out to European high streets as well, according to the Mirror. A French retailer reportedly told customers on Facebook that he was selling GTA 5.

GTA V is expected to be one of the biggest selling games of all time and the game has already sold out on Amazon.

Meanwhile, fans are hoping for the PC release of GTA V.

Latest rumors suggest that a PC version will be released. Nvidia executive Chris Evenden recently said during a conference call with investors: "The PC market is evolving. As entry level laptops face pressure from tablets. Yet sales of specialty PCs like gaming systems and work stations continue to grow. The disparity reflects how consumers use these different classes of PCs. Many consumers look for PC as a general purpose device they can use for browsing, email, social media video. But much of this can be better served by a tablet. In contrast, gamers are preparing their systems for a strong roster of games coming this fall, including blockbuster franchises, such as Call of Duty: Ghosts, Grand Theft Auto V and Assassin's Creed IV."

However, the PC release date of GTA V is not expected any time soon. PC Gamer predicted the release of the PC version in a post few months back: "If we look at all games in the Grand Theft Auto series since Vice City, we can see that it's about 462 days, on average, between the announcement of the game and the announcement (not release) of the PC version. It's a slightly more reasonable 212 days between the first console release and the PC release."
