During the last episode of "Grey's Anatomy" season 12, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) finally considered moving on from the death of her husband, Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) when she discovered that Major WIll Thorpe (Scott Elrod), a military doctor, has feelings for her, and she gave him her number.

According to a report from Cinema Blend, the concept of Meredith moving from Derek's death may be surprising to the viewers but in the timeline of the show, it has been nearly two years following Derek's demise. The last season did feature a one-year time-jump and the new season covered several months of events on top of that.

Cinema Blend continues to explain that this will also be the first time audiences will get to see Meredith actively going out and exploring possible love interests since season 3. Meredith, in the first three seasons, managed to go out with a veterinarian until she eventually chose Derek. Since then, the character has never shown romantic interests toward anyone else.

It was previously expected that Meredith would be getting into a relationship with newcomer Dr. Nathan Riggs (Martin Henderson), but apparently the sequence of events indicates she may be getting with Major Thorpe first. However, this relationship does not seem likely to last, at least according to the synopsis of the next episode from Cartermatt.

The report points out that according to the synopsis for episode 15, Meredith will decide to move forward with a decision regarding Thorpe but will then immediately regret it. This indicates that not much development will occur in this week's episode, episode 14 "Odd Man Out."

According to the synopsis from the IB Times, "Odd Man Out" will see Dr. Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.) switch the resident and attendee pairings around in order to change the dynamics of the hospital, causing several of the doctors to voice out their major complaints against each other.

"Grey's Anatomy" season 12 episode 14 will air March. 17.
