Former Wisconsin Badger wide receiver Jared Abbrederis gets another chance with the Green Bay Packers as he was added to the 53-man roster Saturday before their 17–3 win over the San Francisco 49ers Sunday.

Abbrederis was the Packers' fifth-round pick in the 2014 National Football League (NFL) draft but during training camp suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) that made him spend his entire rookie season on injured reserve, FOX Sports reported.

In this year's training camp, the 24-year-old wide receiver was unable to make the cut but had already been working as a practice squad member for three weeks.

Abbrederis' promotion to the main roster was accomplished after wide receiver Davante Adams was labeled as doubtful before their game against San Francisco.

Adams, who has an ankle sprain, has played in three games this season having nine receptions for 92 yards.

The 22-year-old was one of the receivers expected to step up following wide receiver Jordy Nelson's season ending injury in the preseason.

Despite Abbrederis not playing against San Francisco last Sunday, he has the chance to show what he can do with Adams likely not returning soon with the injury.

In order to create a roster spot for Abbrederis, defensive tackle Bruce Gaston was released by Green Bay.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the signing of Abbrederis leaves the Packers with six wide receivers.

Together with him are Randall Cobb, James Jones, Adams, Ty Montgomery, and Jeff Janis.

Despite all the setbacks at the wide receiver position, the Packers are still unbeaten in the 2015 season to lead the National Football Conference (NFC) North.

The Packers' win over the 49ers last Sunday was their fourth consecutive. They will eye for their fifth and sixth when they play the St. Louis Rams on Week 5 and the San Diego Chargers on Week 6 before having their bye week in Week 7.
