GoPro Hero 5 rumors: New camera set for 2016 debut

People have been waiting for the GoPro Hero 5 for a while now, but the new camera may not be ready to make its debut until next year.

To recap, initial beliefs regarding the GoPro Hero 5 had the release date of the new camera pegged for some time around October. When the camera was still absent from the markets by that time, people began to calibrate their expectations and now assumed that it would be released just in time for the holidays, but it seems that estimate may have been mistaken as well, according to Investor Place.

With previously rumored launches for the GoPro Hero 5 having now been debunked, the expectations for its eventual release have been adjusted yet again to next year, although this time around, people are being cautious with regard to attaching any definitive date to the camera.

In all likelihood, the Hero 5 will finally be ready to make its debut next year, and GoPro will have a lot riding on how it does. The company's bottom line has taken a pounding due to damaging events over the past year, and any hope of a rebound would hinge largely on their next camera being a rousing success.

Very few official details are known about the new camera, but some rumors are beginning to provide an idea of what it will be like.

According to Yibada, the Hero 5 is expected to be significantly more compact than the Hero 4. The new camera is also expected to possess better waterproof capabilities, allowing it to work at even greater depths than the ones that have come before it.

The GoPro Hero 5 is also expected to feature improvements in terms of its battery life, enabling it to capture more images and videos even for longer trips.

There may be no GoPro Hero 5 coming out for this holiday season, but it could very well be a belated treat for those looking for a new action camera.
