Google's online payment service, Google Checkout, is set to temporarily waiver it's merchant's processing fees, in a move which will rival Paypal, the current leading payment service.

It is hoped that by waiving fees, Google Checkout, allowing consumers to buy products from a variety of merchants without repeatedly entering information, will attract more retailers to its service.

Merchants can already avoid the processing fees involved by spending on Google's Internet advertising, and the promotion now makes it available to merchants who don't advertise with the Mountain View-based company.
