Google Nexus 8 release date was speculated to happen on Aug. 19 in New York City after HTC announced that it will hold an event, according to CNET.

Reports are pointing to HTC to take the helm in building the new Google tablet as HTC Volantis has been making the rounds for quite some time. The tablet is speculated to cost $399 for the 16GB version, $499 for the 32GB version, while the LTE version will have a price tag of $600.

Google Nexus 7 received discounts recently which are indications that a new tablet is coming soon.
