Google's Nexus 7 (2016) is one of the highly anticipated tablets coming to the market soon. It was highly expected during the company's I/O event, but it failed to show up. Now, fans are speculating that the affordable next-generation tablet will materialize later this year and is just waiting for the release of Android N.

There are several reports that mention that multiple Nexus devices will be launched this year. It is rumored that Google and HTC have joined forces again to create the Nexus 2016 line up of smartphones. It was reported earlier that Android N devices called S1 or Sailfish and M1 or Marlin are being developed to be the follow-up models for the Nexus 6P and 5X that were released last year.

There are also reports that the search engine giant has plans of releasing a new Nexus 7 tablet and is rumored to be undertaken by Huawei, which, according to the gossips going around, will be carrying a QHD display that offers a 2560 x 1800 screen resolution. It is also mentioned to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip paired with a 4GB of RAM.

Other reports state that the upcoming 7-inch tablet will be equipped with a lower-end chip, speculated to be a Snapdragon 625 processor, while another one suggests that it may have a Kirin 950 or an NVIDIA Tegra X1 Super Chip.

Initially it was said to be coming with an Android 6 Marshmallow operating system, but it was later changed and will have the still-unreleased Android N because of some features that can only be supported by the latest operating system. The features that are suggested include Unicode 9, 3D Touch and Force Touch.

Fans are looking forward to the upcoming tablet, especially if it is in the US$400 price range.
