More than 50 golfers used their passion for the game at the Whipsnade Park Golf Course to help people in need around the world.

They raised £2,281 for Christian relief and development charity Rope during its third annual Charity Golf Day.

Rope supports projects in more than 30 countries and the funds raised from the day will go towards basic education, medicine, income generation, and meeting community needs.

Weather conditions were perfect for the 52 golfers who took to the course and an excellent round of golf was followed by a three course dinner, raffle and auction of items generously donated by local companies and individuals.

Prizes were handed out for the best team, 'nearest the pin', 'longest drive' and the best individual golfer on the day.

Rope chief executive Jon Dobbs said: "Whipsnade Park Golf Club were once again wonderful hosts for what is becoming Rope's annual charity golf day.

"The golf and dinner afterwards was great, but the generosity of the players during the auction and raffle was magnificent.

"A hundred per cent of the money raised will benefit the poor – no deductions are taken by Rope. Thank You to everyone connected with the day."
