'Game of Thrones' season 5 not following the books; George R.R. Martin still on track

Latest reports claim that the hit TV series "Game of Thrones," the small screen adaptation of George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire," is greatly steering away from the storyline of the book series it is based on.

The TV adapatation often follows the course of the story, but it sometimes deviates from the events in the books or alter the order of the events to narrate a new story as producers deem fit.  Unsurprisingly, the same thing is bound to happen in the fifth season of "Game of Thrones." However, reports say that the next season will show an even bigger change.

According to spoilers, one of the biggest changes to be seen is in the story of Jaime Lannister, who is said to be heading to Dorne next season. He is bound for a mission to the Martell house to inform the house about Oberyn Martell's fate against The Mountain.  There, he will meet Oberyn's brother Doran as well as Oberyn's daughters Obara, Tyene and Nymeria dubbed as the Sand Snakes. This cuts the story of Jaime in the book. In the book, Jaime will go in another mission under Cersei's order.

Moreover, new leaked photos in the set show Tyrion Lannister at the right hand of Daenerys Targaryen and her new husband, the Meereenese aristocrat Hizdahr zo Loraq.  Tyrion was last seen in season 4 leaving King's Landing to escape his death sentence.  The photo moves fans to speculate that there will be a time jump in Tyrion's story in season 5 and that some parts of the book have been omitted.

Meanwhile, despite the loose adherence of the series to the books, author George R. R. Martin affirmed that he will not be swayed by this. The author is currently promoting the new book, "The World of Ice and Fire," which features the history of Westeros.

The cast and crew are currently in filming in Spain and in other parts of Europe as "Game of Thrones" is due to come back on air in June 2015.
