"Fruit Ninja" is one of the select few titles that made an impact for gamers. The simple yet unpredictably addictive "swipe and swipe some more" gameplay where players slice and dice different types of fruits to earn points have endeared this game to millions of gamers worldwide, and companies such as Microsoft built on its success by releasing a console version using Kinect.

Now, Halfbrick Studios, the company behind the successful game, has announced a newer version for the Xbox One. "Fruit Ninja Kinect 2," slated to be launched worldwide on March 18, promises the thrill of the original game, plus a host of other, ramped-up features.

Developed by Montreal, Canada-based Hibernum Creations, "Fruit Ninja Kinect 2" will be released on the Xbox One with a bigger character line up, more modes to choose from, much-improved game progression system, and an additional four-person multiplayer gameplay. This new multiplayer mode allows up to four players to play as team mates on party mode, or top each other's scores on battle mode.

Meanwhile, there are more characters to choose from – Han, Katsuro, Mari, and Nobu.

According to Shainiel Deo, CEO of Halfbrick Studios, "This is the most satisfying, complete, and accessible party game ever created," and also that, "The new Kinect sensor makes a world of difference, and 'Fruit Ninja Kinect 2' has been built from the ground up to take full advantage of the latest hardware."

"We are really excited to enter the console market with an amazing brand like 'Fruit Ninja'," adds Louis-René Auclair, vice-president and chief brand officer at Hibernum. "It was a pleasure to work with Halfbrick on this game and we are extremely proud of what we've created together."

Rated 'E' for 'Everyone' by the Australian ratings board and North American ESRB, "Fruit Ninja Kinect 2" will be made available as a digital download from the Xbox Games Store for $14.99.
