4th of July fireworks DC 2014: Best places in Washington DC, Virginia and Maryland [LIST]

Millions of Americans across the country will be celebrating Independence Day on July 4th. Following tradition, spectacular firework displays will be held across the countries biggest cities, and the nation's capital, Washington D.C., is no exception. 

The skies of Washington D.C. will light up with colorful displays and will be attracting thousands of patriotic Americans.

A prominent event is organized at the National Mall, location to one of the most iconic fireworks show in the country. Viewers are expected to plan ahead and arrive early, as there will be some competition for the best views around the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.

Other fireworks show expecting to draw large crowds right outside of the District, across the Potomac River include a daylong celebration of a morning parade and 7 p.m. musical event at Fairfax High School. Vienna Community Center will also have food, music and entertainment during the day, and fireworks kicking off at sunset, around 9:15 p.m.

Besides the usual light show, several locations in or near the nation's capital will celebrate Independence Day with parades, music entertainment, and family friendly activities.
