"Five Nights at Freddy's" developer Scott Cawthon and his team surprised fans when they finished the final chapter of the series earlier than expected. Originally, the installment was supposed to come out on Halloween but the developers at Scott Games exceeded even their own expectations and launched the title last July instead.

Although "Five Nights at Freddy's 4" is the final installment in the franchise, Cawthon is still planning to release some treats for fans come Oct. 31. According to recent reports, he already confirmed that new content will roll out for the game on Halloween.

However, he stressed that the upcoming new content is just part of an update for the game and not an expansion DLC as rumors have claimed.

He wrote on the title's Steam Community page, "The October 31st content will be an automatic update, not DLC. It will update the game to 1.1 and will include lots of goodies on the extras menu (for those who have beaten night 6), including a cheat menu, a challenge menu, and a twist on a familiar minigame that provides a boost when playing challenge modes. This also means that there will be a whole new set of stars to earn for those who are up to the challenge!"

In other related news, fans of Cawthon's games have something else to look forward to — a "Five Nights at Freddy's" movie. According to the reports, the upcoming movie adaptation of the franchise will be based on the video games. However, instead of a direct adaptation of the four game storylines, a new plot, story, and additional characters will be developed for the upcoming film. Fans need not worry though, as the film's director Gil Kenan revealed that he is also a fan of the series, and the upcoming film will stay faithful to the in-game world as much as possible.
