The Catholic Archbishop of Cebu, Ricardo Cardinal Vidal has urged the Filipino Government to open more feeding centres for the country's hungry, reports Assist News.

Archbishop Vidal criticised the Pesos 4 million spent by the Filipino Government for the opening ceremony of the 23rd South East Asian Games, saying the money would have been better spent providing food for the hungry.

"If they spend that much for one activity, they can maybe also spend that much for our hungry, needy people," said Monsignor Achilles Dakay, media liason officer for the Cebu Archdiocese.
