Christian twins Jason and David Benham said they were heartbroken when they found out that former Olympic gold medalist Bruce Jenner transformed into a woman named Caitlyn. They said his story sadly reveals the truth about America's broken perception of reality.

"As followers of Christ, we desire to see God's best for everyone—to see people walking in wholeness and reconciled to their Creator. In Bruce, we see a broken and hurting man who desperately needs to experience the loving arms of his Heavenly Father," they wrote in an article for the Gospel Herald.

Bruce's story is also America's story, they said, and it shows what the country has become in roughly 50 years. Back in 1976, Bruce was celebrated as an American hero for his athletic prowess, now he is lauded for "discovering his identity as a woman."

The Benham brothers lamented that people today are allowing themselves to be led by their feelings and not by the facts. They said this is wrong since feelings can deceive.

"Sometimes they're right, and sometimes they're wrong. Our feelings must be supported by facts. This is the foundation for justice, happiness, wholeness and truth. Imagine a judge not 'feeling' like sentencing a convicted felon—we'd cry 'Injustice!' So our feelings must always follow the facts—not the other way around," they said.

The twins said just because something feels right doesn't automatically make it right. They recalled comedian and actor Robin Williams who sadly took his own life because of depression. Before committing suicide, Williams confessed his feeling of hopelessness. But the brothers said in truth Williams was never without hope, and neither is anyone else without hope because God is there.

"Feelings are strong emotions that compel us to action. They are God-given, but they must always be held in check by His truth—by reality (what truly is), the facts," they said.
