'Fallout 4' 'Far Harbor' DLC news: DLC has performance issues; no release date for Asia yet

"Fallout 4" DLC "Far Harbor"Bethesda

Bethesda released the "Far Harbor" DLC for their "Fallout 4" game last May 19. The day after, several players were already discussing performance issues they were encountering with the expansion. While the developer is trying to solve the issue, Asian fans are still wondering when they will get the latest DLC.

Gamers have gone to the "Fallout 4" sub-reddit page to discuss their current dilemma. The game is suffering from frame rate drops, which keeps them from enjoying the game. The discussion seems to be pointing to the dense and highly radioactive fog, and is mostly happening on the PlayStation 4. There were several players who mentioned the same issue on the PC, but it is not as bad as the issue on the Japanese console. It was also noted that not a single Xbox One player is experiencing such an issue.

One user said, "I found myself concentrating more on the framerate than what I was actually doing."

Many are also surprised about the effects of the fog for the game, which is supposed to lessen the load and improve the frame rate of the game. Another player stated , "Is it ironic that fog used to be used in games to prevent the game from having to draw distant objects and to save performance?"

The studio already issued a statement with regards to the issue, and they will be looking into the matter. Bethesda said on a post dated May 21, "We made optimizations based on the 'Far Harbor' beta feedback, but understand some people are experiencing issues. We are actively working on more improvements. As we have news and information, we'll update this post. Thank you for playing Fallout 4."

The "Fallout 4: Far Harbor" DLC was released on th Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and on Windows PC last week in almost all regions. Asian countries were not included in the initial release and will have a separate release date, though no information is available yet.
