Facebook's new photo uploader comes equipped with new features that look similar to the ones found on the very popular Snapchat app.

Some of the features in question include providing users with the option of overlaying colored text over photos, the addition of filters users can swipe and apply to photos together with Facebook stickers that can also be used to dress images up.

According to Techcrunch, the new features that are now included in Facebook's recently launched photo uploader are some of the most familiar aspects of the Snapchat app.

There is notable history between the people behind Facebook and Snapchat. Two years ago, Facebook put in a bid to purchase Snapchat for the price of $3 billion, but their offer was refused, according to CNet. Since refusing to accept Facebook's $3 billion takeover bid, Snapchat has grown to become one of the more popular apps.

Facebook's latest foray into improving their mobile messaging service follows in the long line of failed attempts from the tech giant. Back in 2014, Facebook featured two apps known as Facebook Camera and Facebook Poke aiming to capitalize on the popularity of both Snapchat and Instagram. Both apps failed to make it out of 2014 before they were taken down from the Apple App Store.

For users who may be interested in trying out Facebook's new photo uploader, the new features can be found in an enhancements tray that can be opened by a button located at the lower left corner of the screen.

The new photo uploader is currently available for for most iPhone models. As of now, the photo uploader is still in the testing phase for Android devices.

Facebook's new photo uploader is also part of the company's plan to improve upon their mobile offerings. Facebook said 1.25 of their 1.44 billion users accessed their services through mobile, the same platform for their new photo uploader.
