The list of stars who will appear on FOX's groundbreaking hip-hop musical drama "Empire" is growing longer as the premiere date for season 2 draws nearer. This time, rapper Ludacris confirmed his recurring participation in the hit TV musical series.

The rapper recently posted a behind-the-scenes look into his character in "Empire" season 2. Based on his Instagram post, Ludacris will portray the role of a veteran jail guard named McKnight.

McKnight will probably give Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) a hard time in prison, because he believes that high profile inmates like the powerful CEO of Empire Entertainment should not be given any special treatment while locked up in jail.

This will serve as a reunion of sorts for Howard and Ludacris, who were both featured in the 2005 film "Hustle and Flow."

Aside from Ludacris, other popular stars from both the music and acting industries will also appear in season 2. Some of them include Kelly Rowland, Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz, Chris Rock, and Zac Efron.

Meanwhile, the first promo trailer for "Empire" season 2 has been released.

The 30-second trailer clearly shows what the series will tackle in the coming season, which is "new music, new money, new power."

In the trailer, Jamal (Jussie Smollett) is left in charge of taking care of Empire Entertainment while his father remains in jail. Cookie (Taraji P. Henson), Lucious' ex-wife and the mother of his children, is also seen visiting him in jail. Their first-born son Andre (Trai Byers) is also seen in his usual crisp suit attire, while the youngest Lyon son Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) continues to record new songs.

"Empire" season 2 premieres on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
