British actress and UN Goodwill Ambassador Emma Watson sure is a class act. When she saw the American actor and funny guy Steve Carell supported gender equality by wearing HeForShe cufflinks to the Oscars ceremony in Los Angeles, she wrote him a letter of appreciation.

She even tweeted a photo of her letter on her Twitter account (@EmWatson), which says:

Dear Steve Carell,

You were pure genius in 'Little Miss Sunshine' (one of my all time favourite films), my brother became obsessed with you after 'Anchorman', I wanted to marry you or have you adopt me after 'Crazy, Stupid, Love', I hated that guy you played in 'The Way Way Back', and then you were mind-blowing in 'Foxcatcher'. I think you're so awesome and today you are wearing #HeForShe Monique Péan cufflinks at the Oscars to support Gender Equality. Couldn't be more proud! THANK YOU.

Love,

Carell was nominated as Best Actor for his role in Foxcatcher, but lost in the category to Eddie Redmayne. He replied to Watson's letter online, and tweeted that it was "an honour" to support the gender equality campaign.

HeForShe is a UN campaign seeking to make men allies in the cause of promoting gender equality.

Watson also wrote a letter to American Sniper actor Jake McDorman, who wore similar cufflinks. She tweeted a photo of her letter, which goes:

Dear Jake,

I wrote 'will act for food' on the back of my graduation cap at Brown. We are clearly kindred spirits!! Thank you so much for supporting Gender Equality tonight at the Oscars. You're awesome.

Watson made headlines last year after she made a speech at the UN, saying that promoting women's rights should not be perceived as an attack on men.

"This has to stop," she said. "For the record, feminism by definition is the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities."
