After surprising fans with an announcement that a massive expansion update is on the way, developer Techland is now building up the hype for "The Following," the upcoming major DLC for its post-apocalyptic zombie shooter "Dying Light."

In a livestream on its official Twitch channel, Techland showed fans how "The Following" would look like when it is released. Considered to bring massive new content to "Dying Light," the expansion will introduce players to new items such as machine guns, the highly-requested compound crossbow, and a host of other new weapons. Most noted among the new features is that with the new DLC, players will be able to access and drive dune buggy vehicles, and aside from transportation, the cars themselves can be used as weapons by mowing down hordes of zombies.

Speaking about the upcoming expansion, "Dying Light" producer Tymon Smektala announced that the upcoming "The Following" DLC is so massive that it will change how the game itself will be played. He also hinted that the biggest change, aside from the new features, will be the areas that players would have to traverse.

"For 'Dying Light: The Following,' we're adding a number of bold game-changers to create one massive expansion," he said. "The new map alone is the same size as all the previous maps from 'Dying Light' combined, so there is a lot we're packing in here."

He also added that they expect these changes to be well-received by fans, as the changes in the expansion are mostly based on feedback from players themselves.

"We also kept a close eye on player feedback to help tailor what we've created here," he explained. "Hopefully people will see that this new expansion is first and foremost, for the fans."

There is no release date yet for the expansion, but it is confirmed that when it is released, "The Following" will be free for owners of the $20 DLC Pass, while it will be available as a stand-alone add-on for $15.
