Alan and Lisa Robertson have opened up about their tumultuous past and how they overcame their trials together in their latest book, and in a recent interview.

The "Duck Dynasty" stars revealed affairs, an abortion, and a destructive lifestyle in "A New Season. "

"We've been doing our story for several years in front of audiences, kind of like a testimony but when we sat down to write our book with our ghost writer, that week of sort of pouring it out and working back through all of the emotions," Alan said.

"You can tell it but when you tell it in a book form, you want the reader to understand what you were thinking and feeling every step of the way so Lisa and I were emotionally drained after that week of interviews."

Lisa said she was apprehensive about airing her personsal experiences in a book, but said that God was in her corner.

"Then it's out there in print and people can hold it against you if they so desire to and so that was a thought there for a second but in the end I thought, 'God's going to protect me and that I'm doing this to help other people so I don't have anything to worry about," she intimated.

In the book, Lisa attributed her affairs while married to Alan to the molestation she experienced at a young age and how it caused her to think her purpose in life was to please men.

"I think that took root in me when I was a young child and all that happened because so much of our life is made up from our younger years, our learning years," she said.

Lisa said putting her relationship with God before her relationship with Alan made all the difference in her marriage.

"...Jesus was first and then I was second," Alan explained. "It's been amazing. It's literally been two halves of a marriage. The first fifteen and then the second fifteen."
