Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will use the voice of the Christian people to help fuel his presidency. The statement came from Eric Trump, the candidate's son, who agreed to a rare interview by James Robinson of The Stream on Aug. 25.

"One thing that he does immensely well is he listens to a lot of people," Eric said of his father. "They don't have to be top executives. He listens to everybody from the lowest level construction worker to the highest level executive. Oftentimes he gets more wisdom from people who are lower on the totem pole because they are closer to the ground and have better instincts. I think he will certainly do that."

Eric said his father appreciates "wise counsel," and if the Christian community will continue to deliver it to him, he will undoubtedly pay heed to it. "It's a topic he cares about and believes in and we believe in as a family. No question about it," he said.

Eric added that the Trump family cares about religion in America, and they're very concerned that it's disappearing. A lot of things they hold dear — such as moral values — are also slipping away.

He considers his father's decision to run for the presidency as an "incredibly selfless" act because the business magnate already has everything he could ever wish for in life. But seeing what needs to be done to make America great again really pushed him to run and make a change.

"I certainly wouldn't be doing it," Eric said. "He is the epitome of the American dream. He's created the best of wealth. We have an amazing family, an amazing business and he has the opportunity to live a beautiful, calm, cozy life."

His father's sacrifice showed Eric that Donald is a "man of strength." He said because of the campaign, his father gets beaten up by the media every day, and it's exhausting going all around America.

"There's no question it's public service. It might even be a higher degree of public service for someone who does not need the job," said Eric. "It's a pretty amazing thing that he did and I can tell you there aren't a lot of other people who would have done it."
