After opening their preseasons with a loss, the Detroit Pistons and the Brooklyn Nets will try to capture their first win when they play against each other at The Palace of Auburn Hills on Thursday.

The Pistons fell short in their first preseason outing, losing to the Indiana Pacers 115–112.

Pacers forward Paul George torched the Pistons with his hot shooting in the first quarter when he made six consecutive three-pointers and scored 20 of his total 32 points.

The Pistons rallied and had a 39-point third quarter to keep the game close, but it was not enough to seal the victory.

Leading the way for Detroit was 2015 eighth pick Stanley Johnson who scored 26 points with three rebounds, four assists, and two steals.

Third-year guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope also performed well for the team from Motor City, having 22 points, two rebounds, four assists, and one steal.

The Associated Press mentioned in their report that during the Pistons' 39-point scoring outburst in the third quarter, Caldwell-Pope played as the point guard for the majority of the period.

In their game against Indiana, the Pistons also featured offseason trade acquisitions forwards Ersan Ilyasova and Marcus Morris who scored six and eight points, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Nets also suffered a close defeat in their first preseason game, losing 101–96 to Turkish club Fenerbahçe Ulker last Monday.

Center Brook Lopez led the Nets with 18 points, four rebounds, one assist, one steal, and four blocks.

Forward Thomas Robinson provided a double-double performance for Brooklyn having 12 points and 16 rebounds, with one assist, two steals, and two blocks.

Brooklyn played without offseason addition center Andrea Bargnani due to a hamstring injury.

Former National Basketball Association (NBA) player forward Jan Veselý led the way for Fenerbahçe Ulker with 18 points and six rebounds.

The matchup between the Pistons and Nets will be on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 7:30 p.m. EST. To watch via live stream, click here.
