"Destiny 2" will finally be released on the PC, according to a new report. In line with this, developer Bungie also reportedly wants the sequel to be a complete departure from the original.

The news comes from a NeoGAF user going by the name benny_a, who said that publisher Activision informed the employees in a recent internal presentation.

The tipster also claims Vicarious Vision and High Moon will help out in the development of "Destiny 2," which Kotaku seconds, at least about the former's involvement.

The publication also said that they heard the same report about the sequel coming to the PC, which will introduce Bungie to a new legion of gamers.

Kotaku also reported early this year that "Destiny 2" will be a "reboot." The publication added, in light of this PC move, that the sequel will leave behind old characters and locations or anything from the first for that matter.

"D2 is a completely different game," a person familiar with the project told the site. "The Taken King was a reboot for Destiny 1 to fix small things. This is the overhaul to fix big things," the source added.

The same NeoGAF user who reported on the PC launch of "Destiny 2" also says that the sequel will "feel more like a new game than a continuation" of the original, adding that Bungie will "change everything."

As to why it is getting some sort of reboot, benny_a said it is because "Destiny" became "too much like an expansion."

"I don't think Bungie has decided yet what you'll be able to bring over from year 1 or what you'll get as a reward for being a long-term player. But I expect a fresh start," the tipster continued.

As a final note, the tipster also said that Raid matchmaking will be included in "Destiny 2" despite its transition to the PC. Needless to say, the sequel is likely skipping a launch to the latest-generation consoles.

"Destiny 2" is set for a 2017 launch.
