Christian couple Derick and Jill Dillard from "Jill and Jessa: Counting On" believe the "day of the Lord" is drawing near because people are now living in a time of increased violence and terrorism, not just in America but the rest of the world.

On their "Life Matters" website, the couple posted an article pointing out that there are certain "truths" that Christians must live by in a world that does not make sense. "We will only be ready for the 'day of the Lord' if we are living in the Spirit and rely upon God's work through Jesus on that day," they write.

The Dillards strongly believe that God wants people to fully rely on Him and find security not on man or anything man-made, but on Him alone. They say even religious institutions and practices cannot save mankind from sin because only Jesus has the power to do so.

"Are we relying on anything instead of or in addition to God's provision for us?" they ask. "Are we seeking God first or last?"

For people who have been neglecting God, the Dillards urge them to start seeking Him now. "True success in this life can only be accomplished through the Spirit of God," they say. "Living in the Spirit will affect where your joy [and] hope [are] found, (where your treasure is, there your heart will also be), which will affect what your actions and reactions in life will be."

The couple explains that regardless of persons or nations, sin leads to punishment, but repentance leads to restoration. They then quoted the Bible verses Isaiah 48:9-11. It reads, "God's restoration of His people is not dependent upon us. God will free His people for His own sake."
