Award-winning comedian Milton Jones is the last minute addition to this year's line-up at Greenbelt.

Milton will be kicking off the Big Top comedy line-up when the annual festival takes place at the Cheltenham Racecourse over the August bank holiday weekend.

With the festival just weeks away, organisers are excited by the range of contributors.

In addition to Milton, legendary musician Billy Bragg, acoustic duo Show of hands, and aerial theatre company Ockham's Razor will also be appearing on the opening Friday night.

The rest of the weekend will feature acoustic music, theatre, talks and a new family friendly area called The Village full of fun activities for children.

Speakers include Channel 4 economics reporter Faisal Islam and outspoken American author Rob Bell.

Idlewild and Get Cape are among the music acts on the mainstage on Saturday.

Paul Northup, who is overseeing the arts line-up, said: “We’re very excited by the late addition of Milton Jones, it completes an incredibly strong lineup for this year’s festival which already includes comedy from Mark Thomas and music from Ron Sexsmith, The Unthanks, Kate Rusby, Idelwild and Mavis Staples."

Northup is set to take up the role of Director of Greenbelt this autum.

Greenbelt Festival organisers are expecting over 20,000 people to attend.
