"Clueless" star Stacey Dash, 49, recalls her troubled past in her new book "There Goes My Social Life" and even reveals how she initially planned on aborting her baby when she was in her 20s.

Dash says her life was a complete mess back then. After escaping from an abusive relationship, she jumped right into another one only to get pregnant.

At that point, the actress could barely take care of herself, much more care for a baby. She figured abortion would be the best way to handle things, but deep inside, Dash knew it was wrong.

All the way to the abortion clinic, Dash wrestled with her conscience. In the end, right won over wrong.

"When I got pregnant, I was doing a lot of drugs, and I didn't want to live. I wanted to die. I was going to have an abortion," the actress writes in her book, according to PEOPLE. "I was crying and I said to God, 'Please tell me what to do.' And God told me, 'Keep your son.' I ripped the IV out of my arm and I said, 'I'm keeping my son.'"

The son she decided to save back then, Austin, is now 25 years old. He has a younger sister named Lola, who is 12 years old.

As painful as it might be for her children to hear their mother's rocky past, Dash says it's more important for them to know the truth because it will empower them to champion their personal struggles.

"The best way to protect my children is to be honest with them," explains Dash. "I let them know that I survived. I'm not a victim. And there is nothing they can't overcome."
