A senior church in Wales has warmly welcomed Pinewood Studios' decision to make films in Cardiff.

Pinewood Studios Wales will be based in Wentloog, to the east of the capital city.

The company famous for its Carry On and James Bond films will build new studios in the former Energy Centre building after entering into a business deal with the Welsh government.

Rev Elfed Godding, national director of Evangelical Alliance Wales represents 60,000 church goers across the nation, said: "We are so pleased that Pinewood Film Studios is coming to Cardiff. We'd like to congratulate them for their good taste and also the Welsh government's enterprising approach to attracting such an iconic brand.

"We may be a small country, but our people are blessed with vast creative resources. Be it music, poetry, art, film making or drama, Pinewood will find a rich vein of talent waiting to be harnessed.

"There's always welcome in the valleys, hills and cities for newcomers and we pray that this move will foster all kinds of new working partnerships."
