Christian rock band feature on Transformers soundtrack

Christian rock band Skillet has landed a spot on the soundtrack of the forthcoming Transformers movie, Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

The soundtrack to the third Transformers installment is being released by Warner Bros on June 14.

It will feature the rock radio mix of Skillet's single "Awake & Alive", which earned the band their first No 1 Mainstream Active Rock hit and a No 1 at CHR and Christian Rock radio in the US.

The track was also the first No 1 Mainstream Active Rock hit to feature female vocals in the charts nearly 14-year history, and made Skillet the only Christian act to have crossed over to the Active Rock format with a No 1 single.

"I am a junkie for these kind of movies so to have 'Awake & Alive' included on the Transformers: Dark of the Moon album is one of the coolest things that we could have happen," comments Skillet frontman John Cooper.

"I'll be one of the first in line to see the film when it hits theaters this summer."

Besides Skillet, the soundtrack features other big name rock bands like Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, the Goo Goo Dolls and Paramore.

The album retails ahead of the films cinema opening on June 29 in the US and July 1 in the UK.

In Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Shia LeBouf returns as Sam Witwicky who has to save the world from a massive war that threatens to break out when a mysterious event from the earth's past erupts into the present day.

The film also stars John Turturro, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Patrick Dempsey and Kevin Dunn, with appearances from John Malkovich and Frances McDormand.

It's directed by Michael Bay and executive producers include Steven Spielberg.
