Christian Olympian Lolo Jones shares how God is helping her cope with sports injury

Christian Olympian Lolo Jones is not shy about her Christian faith, and this time, the American athlete is sharing how God is helping her cope with the injury she sustained after a track and field event at the Diamond League race in New York.

"I'm struggling right now. That injury really set me back. It's hurt my confidence," Jones told the Gospel Herald.

But she believes that God can sustain her during these moments of trouble. "I had to constantly remind myself, 'When I am weak, He is strong,'" she said. "I'm really telling myself, 'I can't do this in my own strength.' Even the Word says it's not by your strength, it's by God."

And no matter what happens to her athletic career, Jones said she would willingly accept it. At the same time, she is happy being a living testimony on how people should serve God even during difficult times. If she comes out of it stronger, then people can see how God worked on her.

"If He chooses to bless me, He gets all the glory," Jones said. "That's what I'm really trying to rely on right now. I literally have nothing else. I'm in such a bad position right now from the injuries that literally I'm in a position where God gets all the glory."

Jones feels fortunate though that she still gets to run despite her injury, and that certain companies such as Red Bull have stood by her side.

"I'm just really happy to be running," Jones admitted. "It's crazy. Once you get one blessing, you start to look ahead. I'm just grateful to be where I'm at right now, that I'm actually able to run."

As for Red Bull, Jones feels "blessed" that they are placing an emphasis on athletic performance and making sure that she gets better. "They work with athletes off the track and help me with my nutrition. They really care," she said.
