Chris Soules, who rose to fame when he starred on the reality show "The Bachelor" back in 2015, made headlines when he had a fatal vehicular accident, wherein he slammed into the back of a tractor on Monday evening.

He was arrested and taken to Buchanan County Jail, where he was charged with class D felony for leaving the scene of a fatal accident. The tractor driver was taken to a hospital, but he was not able to survive his injuries.

Variety reports that Soules attempted to get some help by calling 911 before fleeing the scene of the accident. "I rear-ended a guy on a tractor," Soules reportedly told the dispatcher, adding that the driver was unconscious on the roadside ditch and did not appear to be breathing. When asked if he knew how to do CPR, he revealed that he did not know and he tried asking bystanders repeatedly if anybody knew how to do it.

However, before the police could come in contact with "The Bachelor" star, he allegedly fled in a red pickup, which led to a chase. A recorded 911 call from the incident, which took place in Iowa on Monday, at 8:20 p.m., was posted by TMZ. In the audio, it was apparent that the police knew that it was Soules who was involved in the car crash and left the scene. The police found and arrested him several hours later at his house.

However, he was released the following morning, Tuesday, after posting bail. "The judge put a $10,000 cash bond on him," a jail officer revealed to Fox News. Soules is still set to attend the preliminary hearing on May 2.

Soules' lawyers, Sean Spellman and Molly Spellman of West Des Moines, Iowa, released a statement on Tuesday saying, "Chris Soules was involved in an accident Monday evening (April 24) in a rural part of Iowa near his home. He was devastated to learn that Kenneth Mosher, the other person in the accident, passed away. His thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Mosher's family."
