Christian country singer Carrie Underwood not only loves to sing songs for her firstborn son Isaiah Michael Fisher; she also loves to read him books.

When it comes to singing, Underwood likes to get creative and tailor-fit some song lyrics to suit her son's fancy. "There are lots of songs about diaper changing and getting him dressed," she said. But when it comes to baby books, she prefers to stick with the classics.

The new mom revealed to Taste of Country what her top three favourite baby books are. These are "Goodnight Moon" by Margaret Wise Brown, "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein, and "I Love You Forever" by Robert Munsch.

Underwood knows that these books are written for kids, but she believes that a lot of baby books are written to touch the hearts of parents as well. "I've decided so many baby books are designed to make moms cry," Underwood admitted, as she referred to Munsch's book from 1995.

Underwood might not be an author, but she has in some way written something for her son and husband Mike Fisher, and she will be sharing this to fans when her new album "Storyteller" is released on Oct. 23.

It's "about the things we never really knew that we wanted in life," she shared. "You don't realise that there's something missing until you have it."

The first song released from her new album is entitled "Smoke Break." She teased that the song, along with the rest from her new album, will feature a new kind of twang. "I just went with it," she said. "Each album so far has had its own look, its own feel, its own sound, and this upcoming album is definitely no exception."
