'Captain America: Civil War' plot rumors: Black Widow getting an extreme makeover?

Scarlett Johansson was recently spotted seemingly trying hard to hide her new do. Her hair is much shorter than she usually wears and is colored red like that of her Marvel character. This has raised speculations that the Black Widow will be getting a drastic makeover in "Captain America: Civil War."

The photo from Just Jared, shared by a Twitter user, shows Johansson sporting a pixie cut under a hat. According to Movie Web, the actress doesn't keep her hair in that color when she isn't shooting, which means that this look might play a part in the movie.

According to the aforementioned site, Black Widow wore her hair shorter each time she appeared in a Marvel movie. In each of those movies, Natasha never sported the same hairstyle or costume. Her guise in "Captain America: Civil War" may just be the most daring yet.

Movie Web adds that Johansson is currently out of the set. During the times she was filming, she was in civilian clothes and her hair was definitely not the pixie cut she has in the photo. This could mean that she will undergo a change as the movie progresses.

It could also be that there will be a time jump in "Captain America: Civil War," which will lead her and the characters all the way to the Sokovia Accords, which was teased in the post-credits scenes of the "Ant-Man" movie.

In the comics, there was a certain point Black Widow dons the same short trim. According to Comic Book Resources, the character sported the hairstyle back in the 1980s. That time, she also threw on a new costume with a spider insignia.

For now, this change is believed to have something to do with "Captain America: Civil War." But until it hits theaters on May 6, 2016, it remains a mystery.
