A tour of university campuses across the UK has been launched to mobilise students of all faiths and none to shared social action.

The Campus Faith Hub tour is a collaboration between The Tony Blair Faith Foundation, the Three Faiths Forum and the Coexistence Trust.

The tour has already visited the Universities of Leeds and Nottingham and will head to Leicester, Salford and Birmingham in the coming weeks.

The organisations will host workshops and debates geared towards offering students the chance to explore some of the major issues surrounding faith in the modern world.

Students will also be able to learn more about the contribution they can make to conflict resolution, political engagement and the fight against global poverty through training workshops.

Each Campus Faith Hub will host a Voteclash event in which students are invited to debate the financial crisis and the question, 'Should we sort ourselves out before saving the world?', with representatives of NGOs.

“The Faith Foundation stands for action, as we believe the best form of interfaith dialogue and understanding develops when people of different faiths work together for common causes," said former prime minister Tony Blair. "The Campus Faith Hub provides a great opportunity for such encounters and I hope that students across the UK take full advantage of what the tour has to offer."

Each of the host organisations will showcase innovative projects and volunteering programmes for students and youths, including Undergraduate Parliamentors, Faiths Act and Faith Hub Student Summit 2010.

Matthew Webber, President of the University of Salford Students’ Union said: “I am delighted that Campus Faith Hub is visiting the University of Salford and I am eagerly looking forward to the events planned. No doubt this will be an excellent opportunity for students from a variety of different backgrounds to debate and discuss intellectually a whole series of ideas.”

Stephen Shashoua, Director of the Three Faiths Forum, said: “The Campus Faith Hub Tour marks an exciting extension of our work with students at universities across the UK as we enter the third year of our Undergraduate ParliaMentors programme.

"Offering young adults of different faith backgrounds the opportunity to achieve positive social change whilst receiving personal and career benefits is a new model of interfaith action; one which we believe is vital in working towards a harmonious society and diverse leadership.”
