The third expansion content for "Call of Duty: Black Ops III" is confirmed to be released in the second week of this month.

In a press release, publisher Activision has revealed that the third DLC for its latest "Call of Duty" franchise installment, "Black Ops III," will roll out on July 12. However, the expansion pack, "Descent," will be a timed exclusive first on the PlayStation 4, with other versions to follow after. While a specific release date has yet to be revealed, it is expected that the "Descent" DLC will roll out for the Xbox One and PC versions of "Call of Duty: Black Ops III" approximately a month after.

Aside from the statement, a new trailer for the "Descent" DLC has also been published.

As with previous DLC packs, the "Descent" DLC adds new in-game content to the first-person shooter title. There are four new multiplayer maps with different settings, from a re-imagined Raid map from the previous "Call of Duty: Black Ops II" title, down to a new setup for a cryogenic prison.

In addition to the new maps, the new "Descent" DLC also continues the next chapter for the "Origins Zombies" mode. Meanwhile, since the new expansion is a new release, the "Descent" DLC will only be available to current-gen platforms, meaning the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of "Call of Duty: Black Ops III" will only get the system updates and not the expansion content.

Speaking about the new release, developer Treyarch says that the new content continues its package and "non-stop action" from previous releases, and will keep on surprising hardcore fans and casual players alike.

Studio head Mark Lamia says of the new DLC: "Descent doesn't take its foot off the gas, serving up a flat-out scorching Zombies experience, as well as multiplayer map designs and gameplay opportunities that we think our fans are going to love."
