Is Brook Lopez an All-Star caliber player?

Well, he has the height and definitely the moves despite the fact that foot injuries have been slowing him down. But overall, Lopez has proven he deserves attention despite the fact that his current team almost made the mistake of trading him some months back.

Lopez gets a fresh start with the Nets, signing a new pact worth $60 million that will keep him with Brooklyn Nets for the next three years. A lot will be on his shoulders and Thaddeus Young's as they carry the load off a retooled team that dealt away high-salaried players except for Joe Johnson.

Lopez, standing seven feet tall, drew interest from several teams in need of a center. Last season wasn't particularly kind to the 10th overall pick of the Nets back in 2008, although he did prove that when healthy and given the chance, he can deliver.

So with a new role right now, is Lopez ready to become an NBA All-Star? Will he be playing along the big names in the league's annual festivities?

Well, all that could depend on how well he plays and, of course, how healthy. The coming season will be entirely different as expectations on the big man will be huge. It won't simply be about blocking or rebound but more of scoring and leading the team as well.

Lopez is one of the few centers that the NBA has to offer these days, a seven-foot  player who has shown promise with his post moves and decent jumpers. And seeing that he is set to get a lot of touches this coming season, Lopez may need to hone up his moves to make sure that Nets fans won't be disappointed.

The best way for Lopez is to do all that and the rest will follow, including being an All-Star, a prestige given to select players who are of utmost important to their teams while dazzling fans during games.
