"Bringing up Bates" star Erin Paine opened up in a recent interview about her pregnancy following several miscarriages due to a blood-clotting issue.

Paine is the second-eldest of Gil and Kelly Jo's 19 children, and has been married to her husband, Chad, for 15 months.

Coming from a large family, Erin was excited to start her own brood, and was devastated when the pregnancies failed to go full term.

"Going through a miscarriage is one of the hardest things," she told PEOPLE. "You build up all these expectations, and you prepare, and you have the date in your mind, and it's just … it's heartbreaking when that ends. It's like your world's been crushed."

Erin said that healing from the tragedies together made her and Chad a stronger couple.

"When you go through something difficult, it just makes you all the more strong and it makes you look to each other for comfort," she admitted.

"It made us look to the other people who had gone through difficult situations and really, hopefully, encouraged them through it, as well."

The reality star is now 22 weeks along, and revealed that her due date is June 8. Without revealing the baby's sex, Erin said that she and Chad have chosen a name.

"It was one of the most fun things for me and Chad," she gushed.

"We used to go into the name books and everything, which is kind of fun. It's a sweet time together."

Having surpassed the halfway mark in her pregnancy, the soon-to-be first-time parents can't wait for their bundle of joy to arrive.

"Chad's going to make the best daddy," Erin beamed. "He loves children and he invests so much in people.

"I'm scared, you know – being a mommy is such a hard responsibility. … It's something new. It's something different. The most important thing is that your child knows you love them no matter what."

"Bringing Up Bates" airs on Thursdays at 9pm ET on UP.
